Also, she’s my second cousin! Turned out she’s a friend of my friend here in London! It’s a small (fashion) world! And I’m so proud to have such a huge talent in my family! In other news Cathrine Wessel has recently ventured into fashion design with the brand With and Wessel, but that’s another story…

Swedish Hasbeens, Pop-up Shop London

When Swedish Hasbeens launched a Pop-up Shop at Selfridges in London a month ago. I simply had to head over to see, feel and try on. So I went along with a Swedish friend, for some native advice on these fab retro Scandinavian must have clogs.

I did find “my pair” of nude sandals with the beloved (high, but not so high so very practical when walking in the city) clog style heel. Luckily for my bank account, they didn’t have mys size. Unfortunately the super sweet and helpful shopping assistant will be calling me when they get them back in…

COS Campaign Spring Summer 2012

Looking for tailored, structured and affordable key pieces that will last, check out COS collection for Spring Summer 1012.
As a upscale little sister to the High Street giant H&M, COS does Nordic contemporary fashion brilliantly for less.

We quite like the multicoloured tones and the contemporary details in the clothes we found NEW IN at COS Stores.
And we love the campaign photos for the current season as they ooze of the sleek and chic lifestyle we would love to live!

I have to admit thought that I haven’t bought anything at COS so far. Might be tempted to head into their London store soon after seeing what’s new. Have you collected a few pieces from COS SS12 so far?

The raw beauty of Helena Christensen

Famous for her sultry look in the fashion magazines in the 90’s, and still a beauty to this day. Born in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1968 to a Danish father and Peruvian mother. After winning the Miss Denmark crown in 1986 she left for Paris to pursue a modeling career. The rest is history…

Baum und Pferdgarten SS12

Discovered in Wild Swans, a London boutique featuring Scandinavian womens fashion, the Copenhagen label Baum und Pferdgarten by Rikke Baumgarten and Helle Hestehave stood out featuring fascinating contrasts. The Spring Summer 2012 collection is most wearable, comfortable yet flattering. We love the maritime style, chic, modern and sporty.

When at Wild Swans in their Islington boutique, I managed to snap up a beautiful and versatile Baum und Pferdgarden Sade skirt. Unfortunately it’s been a rather chilly May in London, so far, so worn with tights and boots. But can’t wait for summer to come… Bring on sunkissed skin and high heeled sandals!

NORTHERN WOMEN IN CHANEL – Ode to Scandinavian Beauty

Featured in several fashion and design magazines and exhibited at design museums around the world, the photo art project Northern Women in Chanel is an inspirational fashion journey through the Nordic culture, it’s people and landscape.

© Ingela Klemetz-Farago and Peter Farago

The Stylist Ingela Klemetz-Farago completed the project with her husband, photographer Peter Farago. Inspired by Ingmar Bergman’s earthy heroines, the Swedish couple crossed Arctic plains and ancient forests with suitcases full of couture for Northern Women in Chanel. In collaboration with Chanel the book is an ode to ethereal models of Scandinavian and Baltic descent, many of whom have played muse to creative director Karl Lagerfeld, who also contributed to the book. Helena Christensen, Iselin Steiro and Freja Beha Erichsen are among the Nordic beauties featured in the 384-page portfolio. With unlimited access to Chanel’s archives, the duo shot close to 300 looks by the house in little over a year, including one-of-a-kind pieces dating back to the early 1920s.

“We’re so close to nature here. That strength and honesty makes for a graceful, down-to-earth kind of femininity.”
– Farago to VOGUE

Touring exhibition of Northern Women in Chanel started at Fotografiska in Stockholm, June 30th 2011 and will be held in museums and galleries around the world until 2013.
The book was released July 1st 2011 and it’s available from the highly exclusive bookstore MENDO in Amsterdam for €175. For each book sold, parts of the proceeds will be donated to the charity organization Save the Children. There’s also a limited edition package, the original Northern Women in Chanel book including a set of intimate black & white photos signed by the photographers, Bare Moments. Numbered by hand and presented in luxurious velvet slipcase. Price €495.
