A beautiful oversized sweater is the perfect wardrobe statement when the days are getting colder and darker.
I originally received Essie Kid sweater as a gift, in size small. I’m 1.75m (5.8) tall and an average size 12. Without doubt I’m clearly a size Medium, at the least. So back in the shop, returning from the fitting room with a size medium, the shop assistant asked “How did it fit?” “Oversized!”, I replied, with a happy smile. She looked dissapointed, “So it didn’t fit?” “Uh… It’s meant to be oversized…”
Well funny shop assiants stories asaide and on with the task, how to wear a oversized sweater?

Solution: There are simple rules to follow. First off all, you need to find the right size. The sweater should end where your bum ends. No shorter, no longer than that. Wear your oversized sweater with simple monochrome trousers or leggings, so your sweater will be what catches the eye. Similar dark boots, ankle or knee is what you need to complete your outfit. A statement necklace or a beautiful scarf is also nice accessories, together with leatherbag matching your boots.

Here’s a few images, for your inspiration, on how to wear a oversized sweater in a fashionable and feminine way.

Fun and full of life is this water carafe by Normann Copenhagen.

With a water carafe I tend to drink more water, especially if it’s in the fridge, as it’s cold and refreshing. The carafe from Georg Jensen is just super stylish, but the Eva Solo is probably even more functional as it just sist in the fridge, ready to serve. Which one is your favourite carafe?

Designing a new IKEA kitchen for our London home

Our home may have some fantastic features such as large french doors in the living room and high ceiling. The location is great too. And for those of you that follows this blog, you may have picked up that we have a small but private garden that we very much enjoy. But it ends there. We do have a large eat in kitchen, but the fittings is in teak/plastic from the glorious days of the 70’s. The fan looks like a space ship and the cabinets are not possible to completely close. All in all it’s in a state. So we are looking into renewing it.

IKEA offers an online solution where you can design your own kitchen by simply filling in the accurate measurements of the room. When that’s said there’s no surprise there’s companies offering to design it for you, for a small fee. Because finding the right solution, cabinets that fitted your measurements, turned out to be a small headache. As hours spent with click and drag cabinets around your virtual kitchen, that would fit in with the rooms dimensions, is before deciding on whether to go with a grey or off white kitchen.

We’re planning to recover the original floor, that are hopefully hiding underneath the parquet, with some sanding and oiling. Combined with contemporary Scandinavian dining furniture and a fully functioning fireplace -this might end up being our favourite room in the house. Now, should we choose grey or off white?

Treat yourself to a Swedish organic SPA experience with L:a Bruket

So I recently celebrated my Birthday, on holiday, in Sweden. Relaxed, with lovely friends and the closest family. The day was spent at the waterfront in the sunshine in Helsingborg, then spending the eveining in with a divine home cooked meal.
There were also presents. Among them, beautiful, handmade and rustic soaps and spa products. And in particular wonderfully scrubbing and luxurously softening sea salt and soap by L:a Bruket (Lillabruket) .

The sea salt by L:a Bruket is locally sourced in the Swedish westcoast. The soap is presented in a beautifully rustic shaped bottle, almost like a vintage medicine bottle. L.a Bruket have in fact one a design award for it. Choose your favourite combination. The liquid soap I received contains Cedarwood, Orange and Rosemary. It contains no preservatives and gives a softening and refreshening effect. Fill your bath with a spoonfull and lots of hot water. Soak. Then don´t rinse, just air dry without towel (preferrably in the sun with a seaview!?) and make sure you have time to relax afterwards. Lush!

L:a Bruket manufactures handmade soap and spa products as skin care oils, body scrubs, salt baths etc. based on the best organic ingredients, with no added artificial stabilizers or colours. All vegetable and essential oils are certified organic.

When in your 20’s you’d be giftet with a bottle of your favourite champagne. Then hitting your 30’s and the gift bags suddenly change to a line up of luxury home spa and beauty products. Not that I mind. My hair and skin has both changed over the decade, needing a lot more care and attention than previously, or perhaps recovering after the the happy days of the 20s!?

70s Hollywood glamour by Nina Jarebrink for Autumn Winter 2013

Autumn is on its way, but there’s no reason to dispair. Colder months does not euqal shabby old wollies. Or at least not according to the Oslo based Swedish fashion designer, Nina Jarebrink. With her new collection for Autumn Winter 2013 she’s introducing feminine styles inspired by the 70’s. Bold colours and sharp cuts by Nina Jarebrink, combined with a accessories line with statement jewellery pieces and contemporary leather bags, creates an ideal wardrobe for special occassions. Or everyday glamour for this decade’s Charlie’s Angels.

Collecting Blue Fluted Plain Dinnerware by Royal Copenhagen

When staying with friends this summer we truly enjoyed dining in with their gorgeous dinnerware by Royal Copenhagen. It really inspired us and we realised that if we were ever to have the same in our home, we needed to get started. A birthday present, adding to the collection of tea mugs in all shapes and patterns prompted our quest to a stylish dinnerware. Mixing dinnerware can be fun but our selection is not a mix in a good way. Our mugs are everything from Diamond Jubilee to Santa saying ho ho ho. Returning the gift, four tea mugs with a summery flower pattern got us started with one tea cup and saucer from Royal Copenhagen. Royal Copenhagen doesn’t come for free, but it does come with a two year breakage guarantee. The quality is lush, and as every piece is hand painted, you should choose each item with care. From now on, no more unwanted gifts for Birthday and Christmas. Also, you might come over nice pieces of the collection, second hand and even in sales sometimes. I wouldn’t mind mixing the different straw patterns, although we will be focusing on collecting the Blue Fluted Pain.

Collecting a certain dinnerware set does make you feel all grown up. But whatever makes you happy! We’ll probably combine this with Royal Copenhagen Fluted Contrast coffee mugs, as a contemporary touch on the breakfast table.

A contemporary take on the classic cowboy boot, Acne’s Pistol ankle boots, is a wardrobe staple regardless of season. With a clean leather finish, curved heel and almond toe, these Swedish designer boots are made for walking. Available from all leading fashion stores, rrp £380. Available in different colours and there’s also an option with fur lining to keep feet warm in the colder months, with more colour options such as the beautiful vanilla. Just to add to the confusion.
