COS Minimalistic Spring Summer 2013

COS SS13 is true to their signature look, clean cuts, structured tailoring and with attention to detailing and finish. It’s hard to believe COS is part of H&M, until you discover the price tag that is. COS is affordable fashion for the contemporary woman.

I find the COS SS13 collection almost a bit too structured. But on the other hand, I’m sure there are individual pieces that are absolutely lovely within the collection. They are known for doing the jackets and coats really well. Also you can’t go wrong with loose fitting blouses and jumpers. The key is to find items you like and that will compliment the rest of your wardrobe. Also excited to see the accessories when it arrives in store. After all, this is high end finish with a highs street price tag -who can resist?

Indoor Trees in the designer home of Day Birger et Mikkelsen

Bringing nature in has long been a interior trend from Scandinavia. The stylish husband and wife duo, Keld Mikkelsen and Marianne Brandi, takes it one step further with placing a living tree indoors. Not only have they kept their Copenhagen residents in a monochrome look, they’ve also included art and nature to ensure a true personal and last but not least glamorous home.

Ole YDE Spring Summer 2013 with vintage Georg Jensen jewellery

Copenhagen based fashion house YDE creates unique and distinctive Prêt-à-Porter with a fine “poetic” touch. The label presented its new collection SS13 at Copenhagen Fashion Week August 2012, runway models accessorised with gorgeous shoes by Christian Louboutin and with vintage Georg Jensen sterling silver jewellery, curated by designer Ole Yde from the Danish silversmith’s impressive archives. See more yde-copenhagen.com
The models hair in loose waves, pinned to one side and graphic eye makeup complimented the feminine styles shown at the YDE by Ole Yde runway show. YDE is clearly a brand not following the typical Scandinavian minimalistic understated style, but rather on the contrary embraces glamorous luxury pieces for women, inspired from previous Hollywood divas.

Over the years I have learned that what is important in a dress is the woman who is wearing it.

Helje Hamre at London Fashion Week 15th – 19th February 2013

One of the exciting brands out of Scandinavia that will be exhibiting during london Fashion Week is Norwegian Helje Hamre. Known for sleek contemporary Nordic design, for the modern women. Pure fabrics, classic tailoring and modern clean lines, with a astonishing attention to detail in fit and finish has made this a brand to watch. The HH collections is by all means not for all. This capsule collection is for a design conscious independent woman, as the Nordic style can be edgy and sometimes seem raw and slightly dark. I’m finding this promo video for Helje Hamre quite intriguing, presenting the concept and philosophy of the brand.. Let me know what you think!

Helje Hamre is an Oslo based designer, with 13 years of experience from the fashion industry in New York. He graduated from Parsons School of Design in 2002 before working for designers like DKNY and Narciso Rodriguez. In 2010 he returned to Norway and established his own label, Helje Hamre.

Helje Hamre will be presenting his collection for Autumn Winter 2013 at the Scandinavian Exhibition at Somerset House during London Fashion Week, 15th – 19th February 2013.
London Fashion Week at Somerset House features established designers, with catwalk shows, such as Burberry Prorsum, Paul Smith and Vivienne Westwood, as well as exhibiting emerging design talents. Visit londonfashionweek.co.uk

Norwegian Air Shuttle Flying High with the new Boeing 737Max

Did you know that Europe’s largest ever aircraft order comes from a carrier few outside the Nordic countries have heard of? Norwegian Air Shuttle (trading as Norwegian) has ordered 222 single-aisle Boeing and Airbuses. This is a breakthrough deal for Boeing, being the second order for its 737, known as the 737Max.

Norwegian, based in Oslo, is the second-largest airline in Scandinavia and has a route portfolio that spans across Europe into North Africa and the Middle East. They are a company in growth thanks to reasonable air fares, great service and modern airplanes. Among other they introduced the comfortable 737 Boeing Sky Interior featuring new, modern-sculpted sidewalls and window reveals, larger stow bins and more headroom around the aisle seats. Other features include a quieter cabin, intuitive placement of switches and call buttons, improved sound quality and different interior lighting schemes. This is in adddition to a FREE use of WiFi on board. In other words a slice of heaven for any traveller.

The Pippa Bag designed by Norwegian Marion Muhonen Nilsen

Modalu was founded in 2004 by Norwegian born Marion Muhonen Nilsen, a skilled designer with a passion for luxurious yet wearable leather handbags with a strong identity. Ms Muhonen Nilsen is originally from Ski, just North of the Norwegian capital Oslo, but currently resides in the UK. She’s an awarded designer, both in Norway and internationally.

The Modula brand really became Hot on the High Street when Pippa Middelton picked it up in Spring 2011. In fact the day after the Royal Wedding, Pippa Middleton made her debut carrying Modalu’s Bristol bag in shark gray, and the bag was swiftly renamed the Pippa bag.

The Pippa bag is a classic leather bag for work and weekends, it includes three compartments with two front zipper pockets for easy access to smaller items. It also comes with a removable shoulder strap which Pippa herself doesn’t seem to use. The bag will set you back £169, not bad compared to other bags hanging on celebrity wrists.

New bag this spring is the Pippa Satchel bag, a sleek and spacious leather satchel for everyday use. Inspired by the quintessential British equestrian sporting season. We like! Retails for £230.
